THEME: Days of the Week
Another summer of record club continues to move lazily on... With Leslie still sequestered on the East Coast and Erick elsewhere for his first ever absence, this past Monday was a more intimate affair. But fear not, although physcially elsewhere Erick was present in both spirit and vinyl having had the forsight to drop off a mini-set with Beverly prior to his departure. It was noted, however, that his selection of Bowie's 1984 did contain some decidedly disco strings.
Aaron hosted, graciously supplying Touaqa and coctail peanuts. It was a pleasant surprise that Kirsten stopped in, drawn, no doubt, by the sirenesque sounds drifting over the park. Several songs, both in the genera of the blues, featured the words Stormy and Monday in their titles. Mondays must have a particular reputation. Aaron played a second Electrelane album, thouroughly impressing me again and this time I remembered to write down their name.
And finally a wee vocabulary lesson arising from the evening:
- Antonym - A word having a meaning opposite to that of another word
- Homonym - One of two or more words that have the same sound and often the same spelling but differ in meaning, such as bank (embankment) and bank (place where money is kept).
- Synonym - A word having the same or nearly the same meaning as another word or other words in a language.
