Woo Who?

THEME: How to Woo ______ (blank)

So for those who were wondering, and who wasn't, this weeks theme was apparently inspired by this line from Days of the Week night "Sassy, how to woo Michelangelo". Don't ask, I'm not really sure although I believe it is a reference to the defunct cult fave teen magazine. Beverly wanted a slightly more abstract theme for the upcoming week and well, I guess we just sort of sat back and watched what happened.

It was a reunion week of sorts with Kirsten in the house, hopefully for good, and far surpassing that old adage about "the test of a true woman is how good she cuts a nut cake". Erick was back from the depths of Ohio, and Malcolm made it in from the Windy City with an ever inspired set of Freudian cover art. Oh yeah, Leslie was here too. Beverly put in a cameo as her time these past few days has been devoted to her upcoming show, August 3rd, and sure to be good.

So who did we woo? Winona Rider, so long as it's not under water; anyone who appreciates a good vinyl sourced mix tape; me; you; Sigmund; and any number of standard movie couples whose scenes were visualized as the soundtrack played.

What exactly does it mean to woo? The first definition I found is To seek the affection of with intent to romance. Merriam-Webster is a bit more forceful with the words, To sue for the affection of and usually marriage with. The root appears to be Middle English wowen, from Old English wOgian transitive verb.

Anyhow, perhaps we're not quite ready for marriage yet or maybe we're just a little romantically challenged. Next weeks theme is Breaking Up. We'd considered Sexy Music but it just didn't seem appropriate so soon after all this wooing and besides, I'd just played the Chipmunks.
